Those Corgis
Those darn Corgis are in league with the gnomes. They're everywhere. Underfoot, in the car, on the bed. But it's okay, because Corgis are some pretty neat dogs. I used to own a Basenji (Or she owned me, we were never clear on that) and Basenji's are very cat-like in their behavior.
So imagine my surprise with the Corgis when I call, and they actually come. Or I throw a ball, and not only do they fetch it, but they deposit it at my feet and wait for me to throw again! A Basenji figures, 'you threw it, you go fetch it'. The Corgis are eager to please. It took some getting used to. Basenji's will always have a place in my heart, but I think Those Corgis are here to stay.

Maximus 10 weeks Merlin 5 weeks Me & My Big Brother (April Calendar boys)
Maximus, the tri-colored Pembroke Welsh Corgi came first, as a 4-H project for Son One. He quickly became a member of the family, and made his way into stardom by becoming the Official Mascot of the Wyoming Celtic Festival & Highland Games. He used puppy charm and copious kisses to charm visitors to the festival. After the Festival was finished that year, Max worked on his blog, documenting the trials and tribulations of a Festival Mascot, as well as the oddities of living with humans. The following spring, he had a lot to write about as his brother Merlin came to live with us. Merlin was to be a 4-H project for Son Two, and quickly won us over with his rambunctious energy and enthusiasm for darned near everything. The cat, Anubis, was not impressed however. He'd already trained one canine, two was above and beyond cat duty.

Max, Merlin, and Anubis sort out the hierarchy
Merlin eventually grew into his ears, and took his place along side his brother as a Festival Mascot. The two Corgis went on to star on posters, brochures, T-Shirts, buttons and bumper stickers, as well as scoring two places in the MyCorgi.com calendar as Mr. (&Mr.) April and September, as well as numerous appearances on the blog, Life On The Periphery. They are anxiously awaiting their next big break, and hope Animal Planet gives them a call, if not that, then any late night talk show will do. They'd even share the spotlight with a cat.
